UPDATE

A fire in a lube oil tank blew the top off a 6,000-gallon tank at Bailey Yard Thursday.

According to Union Pacific Spokesperson Mark Davis, the fire and explosion was reported about 12:30 p.m., and no one was injured.

“It blew the top of the tank off,,” he said. “[The North Platte Fire Department] brought in some foam and put the fire out at 1:36 p.m. There were no [chemical] releases.”

Davis said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

More information will be in tomorrow's North Platte Telegraph.
