Budget cuts are forcing North Platte's U.S. Social Security Administration office to reduce the amount of time it's open to the public.
According to a press release, the new, shortened hours will go into affect Nov. 19. The changes mean the office will close half an hour early every weekday. It will now be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The office will cut back even more on Jan. 2. From then on, it will be closed to the public at noon every Wednesday.
