KEARNEY — Ashley HomeStore and Ashley Furniture Industries is donating 400 mattresses to victims of the devastating floods in Nebraska through its Hope to Dream program.
Pillows and sheet sets will be included with the mattresses.
The $200,000 donation was made in partnership with five Ashley HomeStore locations in Nebraska: Norfolk, Beatrice, Grand Island, Kearney and North Platte.
Company personnel from the participating HomeStores will deliver the donated mattresses to families affected by the flooding. The company is working with disaster relief organizations to organize the deliveries with recipients.
The Ashley HomeStores in Kearney, Grand Island and North Platte are operated by Hometrends LLC, whose owners Cory Prellwitz and Carson Rowh live in Kearney.
“Our company has been serving communities in central Nebraska for more than 60 years and our employees and their families are deeply affected by the events of the last month,” Prellwitz said. “Everyone knows someone that is dealing with the aftermath of this historic event. Part of our mission in this business is to be great citizens of our communities, and here in Nebraska, people have always set a high standard for willingness to help their neighbors.”
In addition to the mattress donation, employees from the participating Ashley HomeStore locations are collecting money to donate to Orphan Grain Train Nebraska Flood Relief, Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
