An agriculture trade team has been created in hopes of increasing exports of Nebraska agricultural products.

On Thursday, Nebraska Department of Agriculture Director Steve Wellman announced the creation of International Grow Nebraska Agriculture. The team will be led by NDA Assistant Director Amelia Breinig and will include Mark Jagels, Angel Velitchkov and Jordan Schlake. It will operate within NDA’s Ag Promotion and Development focus area.

“NDA has always been dedicated to promoting agriculture abroad. This new trade team structure puts a renewed emphasis on international trade,” Wellman said.

In coordination with the new team, Gov. Pete Ricketts has scheduled trade missions to Vietnam and Japan in September and Germany in November. In the next year, NDA plans to host visits of multiple international delegations to the state.

Specifically, NDA is working to increase livestock exports to South America, dry edible bean exports to Bulgaria, and pork, beef, dry edible bean and soybean exports to Vietnam.
