Two men were jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center in North Platte earlier this week in unrelated felony sexual assault cases, each based on incidents over several years.
Roberto Estrada, 31, of Wray, Colorado, posted 10 percent of $500,000 bail and was released Thursday. He was taken into custody Wednesday on two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child and four counts of felony child abuse.
Estrada was charged in February with sexually assaulting two children and causing four minor children “to be cruelly punished” between January 2012 and October 2013, Deputy Lincoln County Attorney Kortnei Hoeft wrote in an arrest affidavit.
Two of the four were at least 3 years old when that time period began, Hoeft wrote, while the others were at least 6 and 5.
The sexual assault charges refer to a boy and a girl who were at least 6 and 3, respectively.
The investigation stemmed from allegations reported to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services on Aug. 21, 2018, and interviews conducted at Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center in North Platte, Hoeft wrote.
Estrada is scheduled to make his first appearance May 17 before County Judge Kent Turnbull.
On Thursday, Turnbull set an April 18 preliminary hearing on unrelated felony charges against 18-year-old Tyrece J. Nebarez of North Platte.
Nebarez, who also was jailed Wednesday, faces two counts of forcible first-degree sexual assault of a child and one count of manufacturing child pornography. He remained in jail Friday in lieu of $250,000 bail.
The child pornography count and one of the sexual assault counts refer to incidents between Jan. 1, 2016, and Aug. 31, 2017, according to court documents.
The other count of sexual assault involves one or more actions between Jan. 1, 2017, and March 31, 2018.
