The Nebraska Public Power District and Wells Fargo Bank announced a $16,000 donation to Mid-Plains Community College on Wednesday.

Bill Hoyt, a member of the NPPD board of directors, and Misty Robertson, market president for Wells Fargo, presented the proceeds from the Wells Fargo Nebraska Open golf tournament to the MPCC board of governors at its monthly meeting.

The funds will be equally distrubuted between McCook Community College and North Platte Community College and be used for scholarships for students pursuing careers in engineering and electical fields, according to a press release from MPCC.

During the open forum of the meeting, the college’s attorney, Dave Pederson, annnounced that an emergency consent item would be added to the meeting. No faculty, staff, public or board spoke at this time.

The MPCC board was also presented a Community Benefactor Award from the local Girl Scouts, which recognizes the relationship between the two organizations.

On a single consent motion, the board approved minutes from the Nov. 15 meeting, the November financial report and the retirements of Walid Jumaily and Nadyne Crumly, effective Dec. 20.

The board also approved:

» November bills in the amount of $1,039,440.77

» The purchase of a house at 1110 E. Fourth St. in McCook.

The next MPCC board meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 in North Platte.
