A man died at Western Engineering on Wednesday after becoming trapped in an asphalt plant.
North Platte Fire Department Battalion Chief Jason Trimble said rescue crews were called to the company at 1:50 p.m. Firefighters performed what Trimble described as a “body recovery,” meaning the man had already died.
In a press release later, officials with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office wrote that the man was 28, and was pinned to death before deputies arrived.
"Deputies conducted an extensive investigation at the scene and it continues," officials wrote in the press release.
The Sheriff's Office does not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. Officials declined to release the man's name, pending notification of relatives.
