Barbara Alice Ehlers, 81, of Gothenburg, died June 1, 2019, at Hilltop Estates, Gothenburg.
Barbara was born to Exie B. and Alice May (Hutchins) Woodward on Nov. 14, 1937. She was baptized into the Arnold Baptist Church. She attended Upper Powell Canyon grade school and Arnold High School.
She met Lawrence G Ehlers and later married him on Nov. 20, 1955, at Kenasaw. To this union three children were born — Darwin, Donna and Daniel.
Barb did a lot of sewing for her family. She loved gardening and canning the vegetables. She and Lawrence would take the family to Colorado, Idaho, Washington and Wyoming. Upon returning home from these trips, they would bring back peaches, bing cherries and apricots for her friends and family to enjoy. She would can and share the fruit with her neighbors and friends.
Barb was a member of the American Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school when her children were growing up.
She cleaned houses for people and various other places. She loved to make quilts, crochet afghans and create other projects and give them to her friends and family. She enjoyed quilting with her friends at the church quilting group. She loved to bake cookies, cinnamon rolls and all kinds of goodies to give away.
Barb was a long time member of the P.V.C. club and served as president for a number of years. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. She was very active in the Senior Center — rolling pretzels, Meals-On-Wheels and many other activities.
Barbara was preceded in death by husband, Lawrence Ehlers; parents, Exie and Alice Woodward; and three brothers, Stanley, Gerald and Jerry Woodward.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Ronning, of Gothenburg; two sons, Darwin (Denise) Ehlers of North Platte and Daniel Ehlers of Gothenburg; her sister, Elaine (H. Lee) Jones of Lincoln; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Amber (Dan) Eller and son, Rylan, all of North Platte; Lindsey (Levi) Gibbs and children Gunner, Bella and Athena, all of North Platte; Chelsey Witthum and Ryker of North Platte, and Jacob Ehlers of Lincoln; and many friends and extended family members.
Memorials are suggested to the Senior Center or the American Lutheran Church.
