Phyllis Lavon Kinsman, 88, of Arthur passed away June 10, 2019, at Linden Court in North Platte.
She was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Stapleton to John and Mary (Reynolds) Messick. She spent her early childhood days in Stapleton where she attended school.
On Sept. 25, 1947, she married Robert (Bob) Kinsman in North Platte. They lived and worked on several ranches in Logan and Lincoln counties. They also worked on the George McGinley Ranch at Keystone from 1954 to 1964. In 1964 they moved to the Schick Ranch in McPherson County. They resided there until 1969 when they moved to Arthur. They owned and operated the Arthur Ranch Supply from 1969 to 1997. After selling the Ranch Supply she worked for Arthur County School as a para-educator.
She enjoyed working in her yard, playing cards, dancing and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. ”Bob” Kinsman, in 2001; son, Allen Kinsman, in 1971; and her parents, John and Mary Messick.
She is survived by her daughters, Vickie (Corky) Kemp of North Platte and Susan Johns, of Cheyenne, Wyoming; granddaughters, Stacey (Mark) Trumbull of Ogallala, Wendy (Kevin) Thomas of Kearney, Kim (Michael) Wilson of Arthur; grandson, Robbie Kemp of Grand Island; 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Delores Daly and Sheilah Valentine, both of Arthur; aunts, Arleta Benham of Sun City, Arizona, and Pauline Haumont of Broken Bow; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the Arthur Baptist Church, with the Rev. Glendon Epp and Pastor Blake Wilkes officiating. Memorials are to the Arthur Hospitality Committee and the American Legion Auxiliary. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Services will be live-streamed.
