My stepson plays 12U baseball. Over the last few weekends we have been involved in tournaments that included a team from North Platte.

At each tournament we felt the coaches to be very harsh to their players and the officials. The team also employed tactics that are not technically against the rules of baseball, but are seen as “trickery” and in poor taste, especially at this level in baseball.

Speaking with coaches and fans from other teams, this opinion was held by others as well.

We stress to our son and players that while we do want to be competitive, this level of baseball is still about learning and development. We are also representatives of our community.

I hope that those involved with the program will see this and reevaluate their approach.

As parents we know that the kids are always watching. Our actions today will become their actions tomorrow.
