Another Memorial Day has come and gone, and if you were fortunate enough to attend the Memorial Day program at Fort McPherson on Monday, you are probably still reflecting on it. From the start — the Massing of the Colors — to the speakers, Steven Weir Santos with the welcome address and Staff Sgt. Samuel Mortensen with the memorial address, to beautiful and moving music by the bagpiper Scott Beach, to the buglers Makayla DaMoude and Caleb Johnson with a reverent and touching playing of Taps, to the flyover by the Panther Squadron — it was a beautiful and moving service. We would like to thank everyone who was involved in showing us a beautiful cemetery and planning for a well-done and well-run day.

A special thank you, also, to the individuals who placed a note on our brother-in-law’s blue van with the Purple Heart license plate. Your kindness and words moved us to tears. Thank you for taking time to recognize our veterans.
