Barner's no-hitter leads NP juniors to 12-0 win over Lincoln North Star

HASTINGS — Blake Barner tossed a no-hitter and the North Platte First Nationals juniors defeated Lincoln North Star 12-0 in five innings on Friday.

Barner just missed out on a perfect game, giving up a 1-out walk in the top of the fourth inning. Barner needed just 47 pitches over five innings, allowing no runs on no hits, walking one and striking out a pair.

Offensively, seven of the nine batters for North Platte (20-2) got a hit. Tate Janas had a big day, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Cody Wright went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and three RBI.

North Platte outhit LNS 9 to 0, with neither team committing an error.

North Platte continues the Hastings/Grand Island/Kearney Tournament on Saturday in Grand Island with a game against Ralston at 1:30 p.m., followed by a matchup against Omaha Westside at 4 p.m.
