Victory coming to Lady Irish

The Lady Irish have found their new volleyball coach in Janet Victory.

Victory, a Harrison native, accepted the vacant position as head coach along with a teaching position in the physical education and health department.

Victory has a decade of coaching experience, serving as both an assistant and head coach in Crawford. She’s recently been teaching at the Pine Ridge Job Corps near Chadron.

Janet and her husband, John, have a son who attends UNL and a daughter playing volleyball at Southeast Community College in Beatrice.

Victory replaces long-time coach Shelly Byrn, who stepped down after a season in which the Lady Irish qualified for the Class D1 state tournament and fell in the first round to eventual state champion Archbishop Bergan Catholic School.

The Lady Irish will open the 2019 season on August 31st in Overton.
